Gender Personal explores and celebrates gender variance through art, poetry, and recorded interviews. Its vision is to increase awareness of the natural experience of gender variance and to foster understanding, leading to social change and acceptance.

Jacqui Beck, a professional artist and art educator, interviewed eight gender-variant people and has transformed their stories into paintings and poems. As the mother of a transgender son, Jacqui has a personal connection with this work.

In addition to the main exhibit of the Gender Personal project in July through August 2014 at Kirkland Arts Center, this work has been exhibited in galleries with interactive installation pieces that inform and invite viewers to explore their own gender experience. It was presented as a workshop at a major social justice conference (Gender Odyssey), for Women Painters of Washington and at artEAST.
